Madera's School of Choice Information Night is February 23, 2017 at 6 p.m. in the Computer Lab.

Traditional kindergarten (Students born on or before September 1, 2012) enrollment forms for neighborhood boundary students will be accepted beginning March 1, 2017.

JK/TK registration is now open via online applications. Junior Kindergarten is a developmental kindergarten program designed for children who are kindergarten age, but not kindergarten ready as determined by the parents. This is for students born between July 1 and Sept. 1. Transitional Kindergarten is for children who don't meet the age requirement for regular kindergarten but want the opportunity to buld their readiness skills and abilities. TK is for students turning 5-years-old between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2, 2017. Classrooms are assigned after all applications are received and assignments are based on where there is the most need and space available. There is no School of Choice for JK/TK. Notification for the location of enrollment will be made by the end of May.

For more information on any of the district's kindergarten program, call the Educational Services Dept. at the district at 805-306-4500 Ext. 4207. You may also email Tania Bishop at

Every Student, Every Day

Simi Valley Unified's pledge is to create a culture of attendance every day, every month. In the elementary years, children who miss school are more likely to struggle academically and, in later years, to drop out entirely. Attendance is a top indicator of being on track for graduation and for college and career readiness. Although there are times when your child should stay home from school, it's important to keep in mind that missing just a couple of days of school a month can have a severe impact on your child's success. Whenever possible, schedule appointments after school and start vacations when school is officially out for break. Let's work together to the build the habit of good attendance.
